The Island of Panarea is the smallest island of the Aeolian Islands, and has an area of ​​3.4 square kilometers of territory.

The town, St. Peter, is divided into three municipalities: St. Peter’s, Ditella and Drauto. Panarea Includes the islands of Basiluzzo, Spinazzola, Lisca Bianca, Dattilo, Bottaro, Lisca Nera (of which not much remains now), the rocks of Panarelli and the Ants. Panarea, like all the other islands, is of volcanic origin and is mainly mountainous, the highest peak is the Timpone (420 meters) also called Punta Corvo.

The main line of the original volcanic complex is located in the stretch of sea between the Rock "The Boat" and the Rock "Cacatu". On the northeast side of the Island, on the beach Calcara, it is still possible to see fumarole vapors that rise from the cracks between the rocks.

Among the main excursions: the island of Basiluzzo, where there are the remains of a villa belonging to the Roman era; Capo Milazzo and Cala Junco, retain traces of ancient prehistoric villages, locations of human settlements in the Neolithic age.
